We share the joy of the Risen Christ, our Lord, God and savior in welcoming you to our humble Cathedral in Nairobi. For the last seven decades this church has continuously served the spiritual needs to every Orthodox faithful of the Eastern Orthodox Faith without discrimination by nationality, colour or race.
The patriarchal cathedral along Valley Road is the only Greek Church in the heart of Nairobi city where Orthodox services are served throughout the year. The Sunday services start as early as 8.30 A.M with the Matins and the Divine Liturgy by 9.40 A.M. Services are conducted in English, Swahili and Greek in addition to the various local languages in Kenya. This is because the Church also hosts a large congregation of locals from various parts of the country. Sermons and instructions are majorly done in English.
The Patron saints of our church are the Holy Unmercenaries and Wonderworkers Sts. Cosmas and Damian of Mesopotamia. Throughout their life, they healed people from bodily and spiritual illnesses without taking any payments hence their name unmercenaries. Furthermore, they strictly followed the teachings of our Lord Jesus that “Freely have you received, freely give.” (Mt. 10:8).
The Greek Orthodox Patriarchal Cathedral is covered in beautiful Icons of Saints such as Paisios, Moses the black, Seraphim of Sarov just to name a few. Adjacent to the cathedral is a church hall with a kitchen and dining area where parishioners enjoy tea and snacks after the liturgy. This is in line with the Orthodox Faith being a community of believers and teaching about generosity through practice.
Sts. Anagyroi is blessed to have an active choir that helps to bring life to the church celebrations. Additionally, we have a Sunday school where our young kids learn about the Orthodox Christian Faith from a young age and participate in the life of the church.
